About Us

We are a small Oban based company of solicitors.

The business was formed in the 1960s by John Stevenson, the then Town Clerk of Tobermory on the Island of Mull.

When John became the Procurator Fiscal in Oban he then set up his practice in Oban town in the former Clydesdale Bank Buildings in Argyll Square. For those old enough to remember the TV series ‘Sutherland’s Law’, it is said this was based around his practice and life. John was then joined by partner, Iain Kennedy.

Stevenson Kennedy moved to its present listed offices in 1984 in Stevenson Street in the centre of Oban.

The firm has been kept deliberately small.  We try to offer a hands-on approach to life and law. For example, we will arrange appointments out with normal business hours, including phoning from home. It is our intention to help you through both the good and the difficult times.

We aim to deliver the best service possible

We offer a wide range of services from Conveyancing matters to Employment Advice, Personal Injury work, Liquor Licencing, Executries, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Guardianship Orders and much much more.
